Consciousness and the Universe

Can the universe exist absent consciousness? Are consciousness and physical reality completely unrelated or do they rely on one another for existence? Allow me to posit the idea that context, or the meaning given to something by the conscious mind, is a property of all space, time, and matter, just like volume or mass. From a scientific standpoint, we know very little about consciousness, what causes consciousness, and where consciousness comes from. Studies in quantum physics may suggest a closer connection between consciousness and physics than once thought. Perhaps reality must include both subject and object, both waking and dream consciousness.

I AM INTERESTED TO HEAR (ACTUALLY, READ) YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE TOPIC. I ASK THAT ALL COMMENTS BE CONSTRUCTIVE AND THOUGHTFUL. THANKS!
